Luminous
Oh, mountains - did you miss me? For I've surely been missing you.
Our time among the peaks brought us :
The tent I camped in as a kid. Summer squash picked from our garden, cooked and eaten with butter, salt, and pepper. Golden hour light.
Waking up beneath the pines. A quiet so loud it reverberated in my ears. Seeing my breath clouding the air (and remembering how much energy I draw from the cold). Morning dew on wildflowers and grass blades. Mist on the lake. Dancing in the sunrise glow with the ones I love.
Sitting beside the prettiest creek I've ever laid eyes on (and remembering that there is no peace like it). Noticing roadside Columbine and leaping out of the car to admire their magnificence. A quiet drive home because there's no need to speak.
Oh Colorado - why don't you just crack my heart wide open?
